Zane Branum

Mr. Zane Branum of Fredericksburg, Texas passed away in the Hill Country Memorial Hospital in Fredericksburg on Saturday, February 11th, 2012 at the age of 87 years. He was born in Elgin, Bastrop County, Texas on October 2nd, 1924, the son of Amos W. Branum and Pearl Conner Branum. Zane served in the United States Army during WWII for six years. He married Mary L. Cunningham on January 22nd, 1944 in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Worked as a machinist and owned his own business in Ft. Worth. Zane loved to travel, but only by car. Poker as one of his favorite games he liked to play. Was a big fan of Country Music, George Strait and George Jones were at the top of his list.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary died November 9th, 1997, and by a brother, LaRoy Branum.

Zane is survived by his children, one son & spouse, Larry & Doddie Branum of Ft. Worth, Daughter & spouse, Laura & Stephen Schneider of Fredericksburg, 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren, Sister in law, Frances Magness of Dallas

Graveside services and interment will be held on Tuesday, February 14th, 2012 at 2:00 P. M. in the Greenwood Cemetery in Fredericksburg, with Rev. D. G. McCoury officiating.

Those who so desire may make memorial contributions in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, American Heart Asso., or to the charity of their choice.

Visitation for Zane Branum will be Tuesday morning from 10:00 A. M. to 1:00 P. M. in the Schaetter Funeral Home in Fredericksburg.
